Visual Connections Policy on "Suitcasing" & "Outboarding"

In order to protect our valued exhibitors and the investment they have made in our trade shows, Visual Connections has set up stringent policies to support their significant investment.

Participating in the PacPrint, Visual Impact & Label and Packaging Expo trade shows, Visual Connections  Show rules strictly prohibit solicitation, "suitcasing", or "outboarding" by attendees or non-attendees who transact business at the trade show or in nearby hotels and facilities that do NOT have exhibit booths.

Suitcasing and outboarding give non-exhibiting companies and attendees an unfair competitive advantage over exhibitors who have invested money and other resources to exhibit. These practices unfairly capitalise on the momentum created by the show organisers, exhibitors and media companies and deprive revenue used to support our programs and initiatives.

SUITCASING refers to those non-exhibiting companies or persons who go to exhibitions as attendees but "work the aisles" from their suitcase (briefcase) and solicit business in the aisles of the exhibition floor or supplier stands.

OUTBOARDING refers to non-exhibiting companies that set up exhibits or events outside of the exhibit hall-hotel hospitality suites or restaurants-and encourage show attendees to leave the show floor.  Off-site events held during trade show hours diminish the size and diffuse the quality of the audience available to legitimate exhibitors.

The consequences of suitcasing and outboarding at a Visual Connections event will have the following consequences;

  1. Any PacPrint, Visual Impact and/or Label & Packaging Exhibition attendee (non-exhibitor) who is observed soliciting business in the trade show aisles will be asked to forfeit their attendance badge.
  2. The attendee (non-exhibitor) will be escorted off the show floor immediately.
  3. Any member or non-member arranging Outboarding events on or around the trade show will be further subject to the below actions;
  • The Visual Connections management may review and ask the offending company to explain their actions and can risk losing their membership privileges.
  • Repeat offenders (or continuing after being warned) will forego the review and have their memberships cancelled immediately.

Visual Connections will have dedicated trade show Marshalls who can be contacted in the Organisers Office and Exhibitors will be given a contact number, to report all suspect attendees at the exhibition.
